Our winter art show was a big success filled with art, food, and good times! This time, we combined some of the projects from the crafts class and the painting classes into a festive arrangement: Origami and painted glass ornaments hung along side the artworks in a holiday display!
Among other works showcased were these small, but intricate egg tempera works in the style of the Canadian artist Emily Carr. Egg tempera lends itself well to producing small brush marks, which we used to create movement and distance.
Lastly, we learned about cubism and made works inspired by contemporary artists working in that style. We used Nupastels, which are higher in pigment than regular pastels.
Currently, During the Spring I session, we are working on adding 3-dimensional elements to our paintings. We are also working on a large scale superhero mural. Stay tuned for more pictures and announcements about our Spring II session and Summer Camp!
